A spotlight on the wealth of opportunities in the region
Across the Americas, the LNG industry is booming. In less than a decade, the US has become the world’s leading LNG export superpower. Some 12 billion cubic feet of US LNG was exported daily in 2023 and 2024, marking an incredible and unprecedented rate of growth since 2016. That upward trend is set to continue with national export capacities on track to double by 2028.
Year-on-year exports of US LNG to Latin America and the Caribbean grew by 40% in 2024. Cargoes to Brazil, already the region’s principal importer, rose by 176%, while shipments to Colombia almost doubled. Over 80 LNG projects are currently operational, under construction or at advanced planning stage.
