Turbomachinery control for LNG liquefaction facilities: Five keys for success

An LNG liquefaction process is replete with turbomachinery: centrifugal compressors and gas turboexpanders provide the true motive force behind industrial refrigeration. Unfortunately, on many large- and mid-scale baseload LNG projects, turbomachinery process controls are treated as an afterthought, with the controls hardware and software selected after the specific machines are awarded. Benefits can be realized by separating the equipment and controls packages. This presentation highlighted five keys to successfully specifying and procuring turbomachinery controls for an LNG liquefaction project.

AI based autonomous LNG carrier solution: Results of on-board verification of AI CHS solution for 174K LNG carrier voyages

AI CHS Solution is the autonomous ship operation-assist system to provide economic navigation plans by utilizing cargo and shipping information. This can ensure optimized and economical operations even for unskilled operators. AI CHS Solution accurately provides the estimated amount of Boil-Off-Gas (BOG) from LNG and suggests the most efficient fuel operation guide using AI technology. In this presentation, we have showed the onboard verification results of AI CHS Solution on laden voyage of 174K LNG Carrier.

Streamlining LNG regulatory landscape: Review of industry practices for methane mitigation and emissions management

The expansion of LNG operations has led to increased methane emissions, triggering the evolution of the regulatory and voluntary initiatives landscape. There are, however, often redundancies and inefficiencies created for the operators who may have to comply with multiple regulations. In this project, GTI Energy, with the support from the United States DOT PHMSA, performed an in-depth review of a variety of global regulations. In this presentation, they shared their findings from the gap analysis and their recommendations to the global community.
